This beautiful kinetic sculpture combines the best of Alexander Calder
and Mid-Century Modern Design (Mod) in a hanging mobile that would be the perfect accessory to the retro decor in your home or office.
"Aquilla" is constructed of sheet metal and stainless steel wire and has been beautifully painted
with black, red, khaki, and verdigris (bluish green) elements. The stainless steel wires are unpainted. The two round elements at the bottom of each end are actually painted wood spheres, not sheet metal.
As an artist, I try to avoid copying the Calder "look", but I sketched this out one day and it looked so beautiful I had to make it. I'm glad that I did because it is a very impressive mobile that is sure to delight any Calder fan.
This is a large mobile, measuring approximately 38 inches tall x 69 inches wide. I would suggest a minimum ceiling height of 12 ft.
This is an original design, hand crafted, museum quality, and has been signed and dated by the artist.
There is a small "#1" after the date, indicating that this is the first mobile made of this design.
